New High School Ad Sale Policy

On November 11, by unanimous vote the JSC Board adopted a new policy for the ad sale fundraiser.  The reason for the change is to make the fundraiser more equitable and available while still rewarding hard work and initiative.

Highlights of the new policy:

Ad sales will be restricted to high school players only, with a one-year transition for existing non-HS ad sellers.  We need to do this because the HS program and players have the most expenses and the game program ads are a logical fit. With the new Goal Cards, another fundraising venue is open to non-HS members.

For most high school players who’ve sold ads in the past the only change will be that the Club will now collect 10% of all ad sales to help cover the cost of the fundraiser (mostly program printing costs).  We have instituted a limit of $750 on the sale of existing ads by an individual player, with excess ads going into the general pool, which will also contain the ads from last year’s graduated seniors.  This pool will be distributed as evenly as possible to all interested high school players who have no or very few ads.  All HS players may sell ads to new businesses without limit every season, but the $750 limit will apply to those ads the next year.

In the past, certain ad sale revenues were used to help fund the varsity ‘trips south’.  To ease the transition to this new policy, for this season only seniors with existing ads in excess of their Club and high school fees are exempt from the above $750 limit, with excess ad revenue available for high school team travel.

Some implementation details remain to be ironed out, but the general principles of the plan are clearly laid out.  The new policy can be found here.
